My NEA pitch

My pitch

Brief - You work for an independent media production company. You have been given the task of producing a three-minute sequence of a topical chat show to be broadcast on a local commercial radio station.

My initial idea for the NEA is to create a topical chat show based on conspiracy theories. This is a topic that I believe is known to create a great deal of speculation and is a topic that I am greatly interested in. The show itself will cover a variety of different conspiracies that cover a wide basis. Due to this, it will be entertaining with a light-hearted debates and discussion, with also aspects of factual data.

How it meets the brief

  • The topic of conspiracy theories is one that is known to be popular, particularly with young adults - which will enable me to attract more young adult listeners
  •   A socially conscious, younger audience would be interested in this topic and therefore fits the target demographic
  • I will include 'guests' from different social groups and discuss  the various theories with them

How the audience will engage with it

  • I will include 'phone - in' sessions during the show that will allow the audience to participate in the discussion or to create a new one by phoning with their new theory
  • My website will incorporate ways to gain opinion with surveys (e.g if they agree with the conspiracy), an email address and links to social media accounts to contact presenters

How will I use digital convergence

  • The website will include the presenter's social media accounts and links to pages of information that may have been referenced on the show
  • I will include behind the scenes footage from the recording of the show on my website
